CFFL Q & A WITH THE COACHES - 02/04/2007

This week, we have Luke Dininger of Curious George discussing winning football and hot women, the two most important things to every guy in the CFFL...

Where did the name Curious George come from?

Well, actually I was playing indoor soccer at GTC, and it just came into my head. There is no real story behind it.

You're 2-0 with two impressive wins. Your team still has creases in your t-shirts because you're a start-up team. Did you think you had recruited enough talent to sit on top of the division?

Um yeah...actually I did. We have a bunch of people that has played a bunch of different sports and some collegiate athletes as well. Most of the teams I've been on in every sport have been winning teams. I've never been on a losing team. I'm pretty aware of talent and who we should pick up. We just don't let slouches on the team. And to be completely honest, during the coaches meeting when guys were introducing themselves (and discussing their team); I was getting a bit nervous because I don’t think we’d hold up in the “A” division the same way.

So is this a softball, soccer or flag football team?

That pretty much sums it up. We all do it all…really.

Do you guys talk trash?

We talk more trash on the sidelines. And to be perfectly honest we did have two impressive wins and so it’s only fun to talk trash when it’s a close game.

How many players did you not know before week one?

I'd say like five.

How many players did you personally recruit?

Five.

Who did the rest of the recruiting?

My assistant coach Brian Agnew.

Your team wins but never seems to play tight. How have you been able to manage to keep your guys loose?

(laughs) We do a lot of joking on the sidelines and we poke fun at our players when they drop a pass because we’re getting to that age where we still think we can do it and we joke with them “are you losing it”, “are you on the down side of your prime.” And what can I say our name is Curious George, we all like to monkey around.

Did you guys practice in your off week?

No we took the week off. It was a little too cold, but we did talk about it.

What do you know about your next opponent?

We know they are in second place. That’s about it; we know they’re in second place. It should be a real good game against teams with two good names.

They have a standout at the WR position and you have a pretty good secondary. Their QB, threw 7 TDs last week. Do you do anything different this week?

No we’ll probably start off the same; we have like 10 INTs and a couple returned for TDs. We really don’t want to mess with our D too much as long as our off keeps producing we probably will keep it that way.

What has been the strength of your team through two games?

I’d say our defense. Actually, our defense hasn’t given up any points. Our only points allowed were on an interception returned for a TD.

Where do you see yourself in a couple weeks come playoff time?

Fighting over the trip to the Bahamas; but we also see ourselves primed for a playoff run. I’m not going to lie; those guys in the “A” division are pretty good.

Who can the team not be without on game night?

Our hot women, you can see them on the sidelines cheering for us.

Lastly Luke proclaimed…

We just want to tell all the teams when they show up they better bring it…because you know we are.
